Sarah's Note: Working the Glory
In the words of the classic Rogers and Hammerstein song, June is busting out all over! Sitting at my computer in the quiet of the Inc., finally away from the noise and distractions of kids and homelife, I find myself rattled instead by the thunderous sunshine streaming in the window and the beckoning fingers of warmth and freedom that this season unleashes on us all. We never really grow out of the feeling instilled by the annual summer vacations that monotony is about to end and something thrilling and liberating is about to begin.
And I wonder, how can I stop being distracted by this excitement bubbling up inside, this urge to jump out of my seat and do something!? But then it hits me, rather than resisting this urge, rather than doing what we generally do and trying to ignore the excitement and focus on the everyday, we can harness that excitement, that early summer energy, and put it forward into our work, rather than working despite it.
If we work as if doing each task will bring us joy, throw us into the glory of summer, free us, and help us transcend the monotony of the every day. . . guess what? It will.

The Master Juggler Retreat
The Master Juggler is a 2-day retreat & seminar offered by the Association of Small Foundations for Executive Directors of small-staffed foundations, who play a unique multitude of roles. Together we'll explore and learn, trouble-shoot and build a professional community. Topics include: situational leadership, facilitation skills, how to manage difficult conversations, and more. By invitation only.

We are thrilled to have attorney Mark Tamoshunas coming on board as our lawyer-in-residence at The Purple Crayon. Mark will put his years of experience working for large companies and high net worth individuals to work for small businesses and you! He is perfectly positioned to do so, as he recently left his high-level position with a large law firm, and set out on his own. Mark can guide and advise you on:

- contract disputes or law suits
